New York, October 4, 2019 – Brian R. Bodager, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Pension Boards-United Church of Christ, Inc. (PBUCC), today announced that the Rev. James Moos, Ph.D. will join the Pension Boards team on October 15 in the new role of Executive Director of PBUCC’s Faith and Finance Ministries. In this position, which reports to the President and CEO, Moos will oversee the organization’s Ministerial Assistance, Philanthropy, Communications and Church Relations, and Corporate Social Responsibility functions.

 Moos brings to the Pension Boards a wealth of skills and insight and more than three decades of ministry experience, most recently as Executive Minister for United Church of Christ (UCC) Wider Church Ministries and Co-Executive of Global Ministries (UCC and Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)) from 2011-2019.

A native of North Dakota, Moos is a veteran of the United States Air Force who served on active duty for four years and as a Chaplain for the Air Force Reserve for 18 years. He received his B.A. degree from Seattle University in 1983 and his M.Div. and Ph.D. degrees from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1986 and 1996, respectively.

Ordained in 1986, Moos served 20 years in parish ministry, as Pastor of Adams County Parish, United Church of Christ (1986-1991) and as Senior Pastor of Bismarck United Church of Christ (1996-2011). He was Chair of the Northern Plains Conference-United Church of Christ Council (1990-1991); served on the Conference’s Church and Ministry Committee and Mission and Outreach Committee; and was on the UCC Wider Church Ministries/Common Global Ministries Board of Directors (1999-2005). He was also a short-term Global Ministries volunteer to East Timor (2002). In 2005, he was elected to the UCC Executive Council, serving as Chair for two years. He has been President of the East Timor Education Foundation since 2004 and is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Insurance Board, a property and liability insurance program serving the United Church of Christ, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Alliance of Baptists, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and Reformed Church in America.
