It is our pleasure to introduce you to the newest cohorts that are beginning their NGLI journey. NGLI is a leadership development initiative that equips, energizes, and empowers younger United Church of Christ local church pastors to build vibrant congregations that change lives and further God’s mission in the world.

Each year about 15 local church pastors are chosen to participate through a competitive application process that often yields three times as many applicants than can be received into the program. We value and are grateful for the service and ministry of all applicants, especially in these challenging, complex times. The pastors that are chosen to participate receive six years of advanced education to develop transformational leadership skills, seed money in their UCC Annuity account to encourage long-term commitment, and a cohort of colleagues to encourage and challenge one another. We gathered for an in-person Orientation in Cleveland, November 8-11, and were able to celebrate opening and closing worship in the Amistad Chapel. As you may know, the Amistad Chapel along with the UCC Church House will no longer be used by the United Church of Christ as of the end of 2021 because the building is for sale. It was a cherished experience to be one of the last groups to celebrate God’s steadfast love in this sacred space.
